We are holding Parent Workshops to help parents to support their child’s learning at home.
The Reading workshop for year 4 will be held on Wednesday 14th October at 10.30am in target rooms, but please meet in the Junior Hall.
Please make every effort to attend as parental support is vital to enhance each and every child’s progress.
We look forward to seeing you.
Mrs S Wilford
On Tuesday 5th October 2015 a group of children from years 2-6 gathered in our school library to take part in an important judging panel. Our school had been selected, from thousands who entered, to take part in The Royal Society Young People's Book Prize 2015.
Each year the Royal Society celebrates the best books that communicate Science to young people through this prize. It aims to inspire young people to read about Science and promotes the writing of excellent, accessible books for under-14s. A panel of expert adult judges chooses a shortlist of six books, announced each May, before the winner is chosen by groups of young people in Judging Panels across the UK.
We were given a total of 6 Science-themed books to explore and review, each covering a different topic/theme. We had to rate them on their appearance, content and our personal opinions of them. Then, after exploring all 6, we had to choose just one book to be Prince Albert School's overall winning choice.
Our decision and reviews will now be submitted online and combined with the other panel’s opinions from across the UK. This year's winner will be announced in November 2015 and we can't wait to see if our chosen book 'Utterly Amazing Science' wins the overall prize.
Mrs Middleton and Miss Fanning would like to say a huge well done to all of the children who were involved in the judging panel. Their reviews were so thoughtful and they demonstrated their enthusiasm for science brilliantly throughout the process.
I am pleased to inform you that an exciting opportunity has arisen for year 5 and 6 at Prince Albert school to take a group of children to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford in the capital one cup. On Wednesday 28th October Manchester United will take on Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the capital one cup at Old Trafford in an 8pm kick off. This is an excellent opportunity for your children to visit a world famous stadium and see top flight football, well near enough!
At present we still have a few places available in our Nursery. If you have a child, or know of anyone with a child, who was 3 years old before 1st September 2015 then please come into our main office with the child's birth certificate and proof of your address ( eg a household bill) to find out more information.
If your child has a part -time place at Prince Albert Nursery and you wish for them to attend full time we have a few places available. The cost of the additional hours is £30 a week. If you are interested contact the main office.
