Reading at home

Dear parents and carers,

This week, we will be sending the children home with their familiar decodable reading book, this is a book which will have sounds which your child has been learning in their phonic sessions. The children will also bring home a reading record book. The reading record book is a way for you to see how your child has been getting on with their reading at school and a book for you to record the reading that your child does with you at home. Inside the record book you will find lots of useful information about ways to help your child with their reading. We ask that you read with your child for ten minutes every day. Please see the table below for some examples of useful and informative comments that you could write in the Reading Record as a way to communicate this learning with your child’s class teacher.
